Money Market Commentary : September 2024

Stability

In September 2024, both the Fed and Bank Indonesia implemented long-awaited rate cuts. The Fed reduced its benchmark rate by 50 basis points to 5.00%, while Bank Indonesia lowered its rate by 25 basis points to 6.00%. These rate cuts have led to a decline in bond yields, though bank deposit rates haven’t necessarily followed suit. With loan growth continuing to rise, banks are still offering competitive rates to attract liquidity from customers. Meanwhile, SRBI rates are decreasing, and the issuance volume has slowed. As a result, money market bond yields are expected to remain stable.
