Money Market Commentary : March 2024

Replace with Higher Yields

In March, the money market echoed the trends observed in January and February, with the bond yield curve remaining flat, aligning closely with the policy rate established by Bank Indonesia. The BI Rate stands at 6.00%, with expectations that the Fed Fund Rate will persist at elevated levels until the latter part of the year. Bank Indonesia maintains its primary objective of ensuring stability, and as of March 2024, the Rupiah exchange rate has remained steady. Furthermore, the prevalence of high bond yields proves advantageous for money market funds, particularly when significant portions of bonds mature, allowing funds to replace low-yielding bonds with those offering higher yields.
